Empty Pockets with music

Empty Pockets with music

Posted by  vik
Not long ago we got an email from a young skier and film maker by the name of Eivind Aurstad, and he was enquiring about using Yummy Tummy for his new film.
Of course we gave him the thumbs up, cos it sounded like cool project and we wanted to support it.
So now you can hear Yummy Tummy amongst other cool tracks from other good artists, in the newest film from Chaoz Productions, Empty Pockets.
Empty Pockets is a ski movie filled with some of the most talented young skiers in Norway, names like Gallardo, Fredricsson, Gunhildrud, Svare, Svardal, Fosse, Lindstad and others (see ChaozProductions.com ).
The film was shot winter 2007-2008, in some of Norway's best locations for winter sports: Hemsedal, Ål, Nesbyen, Oppdal, Trysil, Stryn, Folgefonna og Beitostølen.
There is some amazing footage of these insane skiers doing some crazy tricks! Personally I would almost call it dangerous. My advice: don't try this at home!
But luckily these boys always land on their two feet. I bit my lip a few times while watching the movie, thinking that it was going to go terribly wrong. To my eyes some of those jumps look like some ting you only see in computer games. But in Empty Pockets you can see it happening in real life too, so check it out now! Or for better quality go and download it at ChaozProductions.com, where you also can bye it, and own it, if you love it that much.

Yummy Tummy on Urort

Yummy Tummy on Urort

We recently created a profile for Discorockers on a Norwegian music networking site called Urørt. Urørt is a music networking site created only for bands that are still not signed to a record lable. Furthermore there is a small chance that your uploaded tracks could get played on the radio...
And guess what! That's what happened! A short time after joining, we got an email from them saying that they wanted to play Yummy Tummy on their radio program 'Urørt' (like the site), on the Norwegian radio station called NRK P3 (which is kind of equivalent to the British BBC3) And our song is now being broadcasted regularly on Urørt at NRK P3.

Reprise in Paris

Discorockers are playing live again, after some time of working in the studio.
It is our first gig with our new brilliant guitarist Dag Arne Abrahamsen. So we are all really excited!
We are playing in Paris on the 9th of June, at the release party for the film Reprise by Joachim Trier. Vik is starring in the film so its a perfect occasion for Discorockers to play at this event. The film has done very well internationally, its been released in over 20 countries and recently it was launched in Los Angeles and New York. The film will now be launched in Paris aswell on the 11 June. Read more at Nouvelle Donne
The venue is a lovely party boat on the river Seine called Nix Nox. We will be supporting the French band Waiting for the Royalties, an energetic rock, punk, pop band. Listen to them on myspace.
We'r gonna be playing some new electro/dance/pop tracks that we will hopefully soon get recorded and will available for purchase in our shop.

New fun music video

New fun music video

Posted by  vik
Very recently we got an email from a Los Angeles based production company. They had heard our track Yummy Tummy somewhere and they were wondering if we had a music video for it. We said... errrr.. maybe.
They informed us that Fox Sports television really wanted a video in one of their episodes of a lifestyle type television programme.
To be honest we had no music video, but it seemed to us like a really good excuse to make a one. Also because we had actually been thinking, and talking, about making one for quite a while. So we decided it was an opportunity, to get it done.
It was definitely gonna be low budget/no budget video, only some monopoly money was needed...
We didn't have a camera, we dint have a studio, we didn't have a plan, we didn't really have an idea, and we definitely didn't have any time.
What we did have, was some footage from a disco scene in the film Anniken by Filmspring2006 (currently in post production). We also have a friend, Erling Urke, that works as an editor for television.
At about midnight we finally got a hold of a camera. At about 3am, we had our ideas sorted (sort of) and the set was ready, all the stress related steam was already let out and we started shooting. We worked all night until we had to go and meet our editor!
We were quite wrecked and naturally that makes you a bit pessimistic, So we thought all the new footage would be utterly useless, that it had all been a waste of time, and that it would be totally embarrassing to watch it ( which it kind of was when uncut...) But thanks to Erling Urke, his editing studio at NRK and his incredible knowledge of Final Cut Pro and After Effects, we actually ended up getting a descent music video in 24 hours at no cost.
So thanks a lot Erling.
(By the way everyone, he's got a band too! Check out Napoo!)
We will give more news when we know the exact date it will be shown on FOX television.

New pre production & writing studio

New pre production & writing studio

Posted by  babyjaws
We have just finished setting up a new writing, pre production Studio and rehearshall space .
The studio room is lined with wood and has a nice warm slightly live sound and actually a few bass traps probally would help here.
We run a quadcore pc clocked at 3.8 ghz which dualboots either into windows xp for running Nuendo or into mac osx leopard for running Logic. We have two seperate vocal booths and a potential drum room at the back.
Our outboard gear list is Limited to roughly: Access Virus Ti desktop, Akai Mpk49 controller, Microkorg, Joe Meek pre amp, Motu 24/io soundcard, a few guitars and fx pedals, a fender Squire bass, Fostex Pm2 Monitors, Rode Nt3 & Shure sm58 mics and an 8 channel tapco desk. A lot of our sound is done natively using plugins and VSTi's and we have quite a few of those. One cool thing is our network which is 2 terrabytes of storage on a Synolgy diskstation 207+ which we connect to via gigabit ethernet and we find we can actually work on songs from any computer which is on our LAN, it takes a little bit longer to load a song but works fine. Having worked in tiny rooms a lot its great to have a bit more space to work in which I hope will allow for collaborating a bit more. Discorockers has always worked with modest gear and that probally wont change in the near future but it really is amazing what you can do with little equipment these days, the pc handling so much of the work, I guess you could call this is a modern studio. Anyone remember drum machines, keyboards and akai samplers hooked up to Atari ST's? hehe old times my friend old times : )
